Consciously, I’m not sure I ever realized that July 1 is the midway point through the year. Maybe I’m always just so focused on the 4th of July holiday? Anyway, I’ve been watching everyone discuss how their year has been going and what they hope happens next, so it seems like as good of time as any to do the same.

January 2024: Road trip pt. 2 with bits of California, Nevada, and Utah
– the Extraterrestrial Highway
– Death Valley National Park
– Joshua Tree National Park
– Las Vegas (again)
– Valley of Fire State Park
– Zion National Park (again)

May 2024: south & central regions Vermont + tiny piece of Connecticut
– honestly, just a metric f* ton of waterfalls
– we stayed at Jamaica State Park & Little River State Park
– tide pools @ Hammonassett Beach State Park in Madison, CT

June 2024: Finger Lakes & Niagara regions of New York
– Taughannock Falls State Park
– Buttermilk Falls State Park
– Watkins Glen State Park (again)
– Niagara Falls State Park, including Maid of the Mist & Cave of the Winds
– also visited Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania on the way (another f* ton of waterfalls)

Where we’re going…

August/September 2024: Yellowstone + Grand Tetons
November 2024: West Virginia (as per usual)

We’ve also been talking about trying to cross the via ferrata at Seneca Rocks off the list this year. That’ll be more of a fall thing when the leaves start changing (and it’s not in the 90’s every day!).

And I may or may not be (not so) casually planning a trip to Antigua, Guatemala for January 2025 to hike Volcan Acatenago and see Volcan Fuego. Did I book the flight earlier today because I’m so excited, even though I know I probably should have waited? Maybe…
