Moonstone Beach is right next door to Luffenholtz Beach on the Trinidad Scenic Drive. We arrived just after 8am and snagged the last spot in the tiny parking lot. We were surrounded by surfers who were preparing to go out for the morning and I never felt more like I was in California haha.
By this point on the trip, we’d visited enough beaches to realize that each actually is different from each other and unique in their own way, so I was psyched to find out what we’d find here.

Look at that little French bulldog running across the water to her surfer owner! The cutest. We watched her sit so patiently out there on the beach while her owner did her thing.

The beach leading to the tideline is a surprisingly loooong walk, and it’s partially cut in half by a stream made by a river ending onto the beach and feeding back into the ocean.

Isn’t that pattern so pretty?

There were awesome rocks chilling randomly placed in the sand. It’s so much fun to get lost looking down in the tide and investigating each one.

The rocky coastline of the northwestern US is something I can’t get over. It’s probably the number one thing that I’d say I’m “jealous” of as an East-coaster. Look at those big ol things out there!

I also love the endless agates and perfectly smooth rocks casually sitting everywhere. And the fact that there are starfish and anemones just… there?! You gotta be kidding me.
This awesome tide-pooly rock was so interesting to explore. I can’t waaaiiit to be able to visit more tide pools. They’re such an amazing phenomenon and it makes me feel like I’m scuba diving.

The downside to having such go-go-go trips is that when you find somewhere you love, you already have to leave. But then again, I was sooo excited to finally make it to Redwood National Park. That was the entire reason we went on this trip in the first place.

We stopped down the road in the actual town of Trinidad to grab quick lunch. I had the veggie BLT and it was deeelicious.

And of course, one last geocache for the road. 😉
