Hello, Oregon

After spending the past week trekking through alllll of the redwoods of Northern California, I was psyched to have finally made it across the state line and into new territory and scenery.

Psst, there’s a geocache at the welcome sign.

The Oregon border is less than half an hour from the northernmost park of Redwood National and State Parks, so it only took a second to get over here.

We stopped at this little rest/picnic area to stretch and take a few good gulps of ocean air.

It was a cool moment to see the Blue Star Memorial Highway sign again! A few years ago when we were roadtripping around the Sierras in Central-ish California, we crossed paths with it. Fun to think about it stretching all the way over here.

Agate Beach @ Tseriadun State Recreation Site

“Agate Beach” is a little blip on Google Maps that caught my eye. The walk down to it was super easy and was peppered with these pretty wild orchids (!!!!) and berries everywhere.

The beach! I’ll never get over the Pacific Coast’s rocky shoreline, it’s so different and magical in comparison to what we have in Maryland. We were here in early September and it was such a nice breezy, chilly, temperature.

The rocks at this beach were definitely great, but we were totally spoiled from being at Sue-Meg State Park’s Agate Beach and Trinidad, California’s Moonstone Beach – both of which set my new standard for beachcombing, for sure. It was still fun to explore and it was so nice because we had the entire thing to ourselves.

This was the biggest, cleanest, and most handicapped accessible porta-potty I’d ever seen. Kudos.

Check-in at Harris Beach State Park

Our home for the night!

It was the perfect little spot to pull in the van. This was our fifth night of sleeping inside of it and it’s honestly so cozy, I have no complaints.

We bring our camping sleeping pads, our sleeping bags, our regular pillows from home, some blankets… I love it. And there’s plenty of space for both of us, even with our luggage in their with us.

Harris Beach *~

And this beautiful beach was just a little meander away, pretty for our first Oregon sunset.

I mean, how beautiful is this?

The trail was kinda sketchy at the end and lead through this narrow path between the cliff. On both sides are huge graveyards of bleached driftwood that’s been washed up and caught against the beach forever.

The end of the trail involves trekking over an unmarked path over wet, mossy, sharp boulders in order to reach the sand. Some parts most definitely go under water when the tide is at it’s highest.

Tide poooools! They’re the best. And the smooth round rocks. Everywhere. I love them. :’)

Starfeeeeesh. ❤️

Everything became pastel colored and mystical.

And a bunch of jellyfish started washing up..?

This was the last night we planned on camping so of course we had to make a last campfire to stare in to for a while. 🙂

The next morning we planned to make a big ol’ U-turn and start heading back down the way we came – back into Big Tree territory.

By this point, we’d driven well over 500 miles and had 300-ish left to go back to San Francisco.

I’m obsessed with taking these long, drawn out, arduous road trips. There’s something so satisfying about covering this much ground and knowing that not many other people ever get to do it like this.

I spent years disconnected from nature and all that came with it.
Luckily, there was a shift along the way and I haven’t looked back.

I created this blog so I could tell *you* all about it. ♡
